July 6th 2008

Well, we all watched Dr Who and I thought it was rubbish. However, I do not like DT or his acting style and I am not a great admirer of RTD either.

I VERY MUCH objected to the German elements in the Story. We also had the tired old thing of the old woman saying things like Ven and Ve instead of when and we. None of the Germans I know, including me, say Ven instead of when. When we learn English we are taught, believe it or not, PRONUNCIATION. I can not say for sure that no Germans ever say Ven instead of when, but the fact is a great many don't and they always do it on TV and it drives me mad. I would like to grab hold of RTD and throttle him, actually.

On to Torchwood. We are getting a 5 episode arc and it seems Mickey and Martha are the new members. Martha is, quite honestly, a BORE, and as for Mickey--does he ever bathe? Shave? Change his clothing? He is no substitute for Owen and I think he is ugly and not a very good actor and I wouldn't mind if I never ever saw him ever again. I DO NOT WANT to see a 5 episode story with these people in it. It is bad enough having to endure the Wonderful Perfect Gwen without goody goody no personality Martha and ugly Mickey.

So, RTD has gotten an award. Hmmm--I know what I would like to give him and it ain't an award----

Anyhow, we are all well and Anna-Louise is going to yet another Party this afternoon. Her life is getting to be a real social whirl---Harry had a sleep over and Dan has just now gone to fetch him. We went to early mass and my hair has gone into a mass of frizz with the damp---when I was small I can remember adding to all my prayers a plea to have straight hair---needless to say it is still curly---BJ has some hair----not much--just a bit blond curling fluff--CURLING---Rhys has fallen in love with the Daleks--he stands with his arms out straight and shouts loudly--"Daarek"---just what we need in our house--a 2 year old Dalek!!!

We have visitors coming soon so now I have had my moan I will log off---

----Later---

I feel like I want to moan here a bit more. The boards are now saying that Mickey and Jack may have a Father-Son type relationship. Oh what crap--the actor playing the part is less than 8 years younger than JB. I am tired of this whole Torchwood thing and I wish John would give it up and go back to the stage. He is so good live. He needs to be in a Show.

The last Season of Torchwood wasn't too good and it never rose to the heights I thought it would when I first saw it. Dr Who is lumbered with DT overacting and making his eyes bulge and twitching all over, and now we are going to get stuck with a 5 episode story featuring Gwen {words are not bad enough to describe how I feel about her}, Martha, the most boring female in the Universe and this Mickey, whom I LOATHE the sight of.

I will probably record all the arc and just watch the bits with JB in. I almost hope it is a flop and they don't make any more. Then maybe John would go back to the Stage.

Still on dial -up due to me being disorganized, so a short post. Dan and I watched ''The Making Of Me''. it was very interesting and made us think of our friend Julian. I also found I was thinking of myself when young. I was very lively and constantly up trees etc. We looked at our fingers and Dan has Gay fingers but he isn't Gay and has never even thought he may be Gay, so so much for that theory!

I thought about the theory of how many older Brothers a boy has and found I was thinking about the Parents, particularly the Mother's, age. It is obvious that a Woman will be older when she has had five sons than when she has one or two. Perhaps it is something to do with conditions in the Womb of OLDER Mothers, and not how many sons she has had.

My little BJ is sitting up for seconds at a time now, and I was 40 when he was born--oh dear------

Anyhow, here he is--taken recently before it became boiling hot here---

We are back on Broadband!!!!!!!! We had to change our ISP and what a fuss and bother that was----Anyhow, back again----so some news---

Dan bought a new Car {not new new but new to us} because mine decided to die. I was on the M25 at the time and luckily on the inner lane so I managed to get the car, moaning and groaning, onto the shoulder. I mean the car was moaning and groaning not me---oh well maybe a bit of both. Anyhow, there we were, me and the kids, stuck there waiting for the help and they were wonderful. Anna-Louise decided to cry about the car and Rhys was helpfully sitting in his seat screaming. BJ slept through the entire drama, while Harry hung about, asking lots of questions about engines and things. Anyhow we were towed away and the car has now gone to car heaven, otherwise known as the scrapyard.

BJ can now sit up without falling sideways right away and I hate to admit it but I am so pleased he is ahead of Geraldine in this-------Rhys is talking more and more and I don't think it is TOO big headed to say he can talk better than most kids his age, and in three languages too! Harry spent a week at Home with Mama. Gisela and family went over and Harry went with them. Evidently he and Gareth had a great time. What exactly they did is a bit of a mystery but they had a great time doing it--whatever it was----. Anna-Louise has started singing lessons. She is very serious about them and starts every morning singing scales. I don't like to complain but being awoken by a toddler at your bedside saying "aufstehen" is bad enough, accompanied as it is by BJ shouting for his breakfast, without Anna-Louise singing scales in the next room.

I got sunb--oh hell sonnenverbrannt on a day trip to Alton Towers so I am now covered with peeling skin and my nose is still bright red. I was wearing sunlenses so I have the shape of them in white on my face. I am sure it looks very interesting--hmm---A little tip for other Mothers--when you are concentrating on making sure your kids do not get red skin in the sun and you are covering them in cream DO NOT FORGET YOURSELF!

Because of the car we are not having a proper vacation this year but going on day trips. This is surprisingly tiring and needs a lot of planning too.

Rhys did some typing. Have to go before he does some more. I have left it because it looks like code----

Oneupmanship among kids obviously extends to babies--overheard the following conversation between Anna-Louise and her friend Maxine {who has a little sister aged 7 months}:

Anna-Louise: My baby can sit up--all on his own--

Maxine: So can mine--

Anna-Louise: He can talk too---Chinese---

Maxine: Elly can sing---and dance---

Well you can't beat that so ---

Anna-Louise: She can't---

Maxine: She can a bit---it's just what Mummy calls poetic lies---

I thought that was great--poetic lies---

August 12th, 2008

Quick update---read the piece about JB and sex in "Now" magazine on line. I am sure there will be a fuss about this---I enjoy sex--oh dear how terrible---

Anyhow, I enjoy sex myself--what is more--I have always enjoyed it--since I was 13 and did it in a wood and got up with leaves stuck to my butt. People have funny attitudes to sex---some folk don't talk about it at all--which is weird as how do they think they got here?

Anna-Louise has started to ask about sex. She, of course, knows all about babies but the actual mechanics of it all is a bit of a mystery still--and she also wants to know if John and Scott "do sex" and what do they do? I don't know what other parents do in these circumstances but I sat down with her and we had a talk.

I tried to make it clear that it is an act of LOVE between two people and then I said that John and Scott love each other very much so whatever they do together is an expression of that love. She seemed quite happy with that so I didn't need to go into too many details about what goes where, which was a relief. I don't want her to talk to other kids and get strange ideas from them.

Talking about strange ideas--when I was a kid some other kid told me that if you swallow it you can get pregnant. I said how does it find its way down there then? She said she didn't know but maybe it swam through your veins???

BJ is making more noises and has added a squeak to his reportiure. {My spell checker doesn't know what that is, please excuse the spelling}. Harry said to me one morning "BJ IS SQUEAKING, MUM!" in an anguished tone. It is a bit strange, I suppose, but it is quite a pleasant squeak!

No updates for a while on anything ---sorry--house is full of visitors---Tom, Gisela, Mair, Gareth and Dominic. Dominic is actually staying with us while he looks for an apartment.

Harry is very happy with the full house because he and Gareth are great friends. Anna-Louise has developed a --oh what is it in English--crunch--no--oh well--on Dominic. She follows him about and keeps talking to him. I think she likes his accent. It is rather nice.

Rhys has become a Thomas the Tank Engine fan. Seeing him dancing to "Five new Engines in the Shed" is seriously funny. He keeps in time too!!

BJ has discovered a great new skill--spitting long distances---I suppose it shows great coordination---

Mama is arriving next week. She has moved into the 21st Century and has bought a PC. She sent me an E-Mail. It is like a letter and even starts with---Liebe Jennell, and ends with Alles Liebe--weird---.

Diary entry with photos-August 23rd 2008

Gisela and family have now gone home. Miss them despite the extra work, cooking etc. Gisela brought some copies of old family photos and I am uploading two here before I loose them. They seem to be of Mama and her brother Franz.

Gisela has no idea where these were taken and has asked Mama and she can't remember.

Meant to add that Mama is now here. Hearing Dominic and her having a conversation is hilarious. He only knows a few words In German and she only knows a few in English.

What they are wearing in the first photo is a mystery. Oma's idea of fashion was evidently somewhat weird!

Just to say thanks to those people who thanked me for the Festival file I uploaded. I read over what I had written and it sounded slightly er---gehässig. To be honest I was a bit cross that someone posted before me--which is stupid and childish but I do spend all day everyday with kids--then I discovered their speed was caused by the file being very low quality so I was cross about that too--Ich bin doof!!

8/25/08
I recorded the Festival Concert JB was in tonight. I intended to put it on JB Daily and Barrowman fans but someone got there first so I haven't. I wondered how they did it so fast so I investigated and found it was a very low quality recording-- at only 36Kbps. Mine is 128.

I like to put these things onto CD's and onto my Ipod so I am glad I recorded it myself as the posted one is too low quality. If anyone does want mine here is the link:

I haven't time to edit it and I missed the Welsh National Anthem, as Dan pressed the stop button before it came on---

August 25th, 2008.

I feel obliged to explain exactly who Dominic is, in case anyone wants to know---hmm. Anyhow, Mama's Father was George MacDonald and he was Scottish. He was the eldest of 15 children. He was born in 1908. His youngest brother was William who was born in 1933 when my Great Grandmother, Ada, was 43 years old. Dominic is the only child of this William, so he is Mama's first cousin. He was born in 1973 and Mama was born in 1932 so you can see how the generations in our family have gotten --er--out of sync---.

Anna-Louise told me today that she is going to marry Dominic when she grows up. He lived with a girl for some years but they separated last year so he is free--for now--. He is 35 and she is 9---oh well---.

August 27th, 2008

Mama is still here and is being quite a help. However, I wanted to write about Harry. I had an eerie experience the other morning with Harry. He has started to do a Paper Route and has to get up real early. To my surprise he does and even gets his own breakfast, and tries not to wake anyone else up in the process which is lovely of him. That isn't what I wanted to say though---

Monday morning I was up with BJ and Harry was just going off for his Paper Route as I went downstairs. He turned as he opened the front door and waved and smiled and I had the oddest feeling as I watched him go. I suddenly saw that he is growing up. It isn't that he is much taller, because he isn't, although he is getting taller slowly, he is never going to be very tall I'm afraid. It's that he has somehow changed just lately. It's hard to explain in words but as I watched him leave I saw the man he is going to be reflected in the boy he still is, if that makes any sense. I was suddenly so proud of him. I think he is going to be a great credit to the Family. OK he has gotten into trouble now and again, fighting and getting his clothes torn etc, but he has always had a strong sense of what is right and wrong and he has often gotten into trouble because of that. He is a great and fantastic son. I don't know how we have managed to turn out such a great boy.

Rhys said his first proper sentence yesterday and in perfect English too. We had next door over here for the afternoon, a really long trip for them, from next door---. It was dull but dry so we were all in the back Yard. Rhys and William were playing together with some sand and Minerva was helping them {she said that was what she was doing}. Rhys suddenly said to her "No, no, that's my bucket." That may not seem like much but I was most impressed. {Easily pleased me]. He was 2 in June and William is a month older and hardly says a thing. He just grunts and points. Minerva will be 6 in December by the way.

Anyhow onto Torchwood. They have started filming the 5 Episode thing and evidently Rhys and PC Andy have been promoted to regular characters. I am not too pleased about that. Not because I object to them exactly but that they are both supposed to be in love with Gwen. RTD would like to get Jack with Gwen also, so that means we may have a whole cast of men that are all, except Ianto, in love with Gwen. This is ridiculous and unbelievable and I loathe Gwen anyhow. I don't know how they are going to deal with this. Oh how I wish they had killed Gwen and not Tosh.

Have to go now as Rhys is here with one of his Pirates. It has lost its head. I think BJ may have bitten it as he is getting a tooth now. It is his first. Geraldine already has three! As a family we are all somewhat deficient with teeth though. I have no Wisdom teeth and neither has Dan. Harry never got four of his at all and they looked for them and couldn't find them anywhere. Anna-Louise hasn't had the two teeth next to the front teeth at the top. There is no space for them anyhow. Rhys still only has 14 of his. Have to go---and mend a head---
